Who is entitled to free transportation?

Law No. 21.121/14 grants people with disabilities and those over 65 years old with an individual income less than two minimum wages, the right to travel for free to any city in the state of Minas Gerais;

Categories entitled to the benefit:

  • Over 65 years old;
  • Hearing impairment;
  • Visual impairment;
  • Mental impairment;
  • Physical impairment;
  • Multiple impairments;

A person with disabilities is considered as per State Law No. 13.465 of 01/12/00 and Federal Decree No. 3.298 of 12/20/99, fitting into the categories.

What is required to request free travel?

The criteria established according to Law No. 21.121/14 and Decree No. 46.434/14:

1 – Individual income less than two minimum wages;

2 – Present one of these income proofs:

  • Paystub and employment record book;
  • Benefit credit statement issued by your bank agency (DCB);
  • Extract from CNIS;

(Documents issued within the last 3 months)

3 – Present a valid identification document (RG, CNH, or CTPS) at the time of booking and boarding;

4 – People with disabilities must present a medical expert report issued by SUS;

What should be included in the medical report?

The report must be issued by SUS and include:

1 – Current validity date;

2 – Place and date of issuance;

3 – Name, CRM, stamp, and signature of the doctor;

4 – ICD, description of the current condition, and proof of the functional deficit of the disease;

How to obtain free tickets?

It is necessary to reserve the ticket in advance, according to guidelines and Decree No. 46.434/14:

1 – Reservation made in order of request precedence;

2 – Must be requested only at ticket counters up to 12 hours before the vehicle's departure time, with the possibility of requesting a return ticket;

3 – No more than one ticket will be reserved for the same applicant without a minimum interval of 12 hours between trips;

4 – Two seats per vehicle for benefit users;

5 – It is necessary to be at the ticket office up to 30 minutes before the trip for reservation confirmation (except for boardings at section points);

6 – In case of cancellation, it must be communicated in advance to the ticket counter to cancel the ticket;
